Under the direction ofComrade E.J Hunter and Comradeharold Henrey three aircraft observation posts were being manned in the community to spot and report all aircraft to Olmstead Field. These were located in Pleasant Hill School, the Franklin Farm north of Newburg, and the roof of the American Legion building W. King St. ( WW11 apprehension and fear was in the air. Hitler had invaded Poland and his submarines were roving the Atlantic; Pearl Harbor was just around the corner.)
