On the morning of Dec. 10, volunteers will place a fresh evergreen wreath at the entrance to each of Indiana County’s roughly 150 cemeteries to honor the more than 12,200 Indiana County veterans.
A ceremonial wreath laying will then be held at the Indiana County Court House Veterans Wall on the same day at noon.
Churches throughout Indiana County are encouraged to ring the church bell at noon on that day. This project is in cooperation with the Indiana County Christmas Tree Growers Association, VFW Post 1989, and American Legion #141.
Organizers are looking for donations to help pay for the wreaths, and all proceeds raised beyond the cost of the wreaths will be donated to the Indiana County Department of Veteran Affairs.
Tax-deductible donations should be mailed to: Wreaths for Indiana County Veterans, P.O. Box 45, Kent, PA 15752-0045. Make checks payable to VFW Post 1989.
