
Military Service:
Jim F. Quinn served four years on active duty, including a tour in Southeast Asia, he was assigned to the 377th Air Police Squadron, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon, Republic of Vietnam, from September 1966 until October 1967. Jim attended Officer Candidate School at the Texas Military Academy being commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1974, after attending the Armor Officer Basic Couse in Fort Knox, KY he was assigned as training officer 2nd Battalion 142nd Infantry, 49 Armored Division, LT Quinn served in that position until he was transferred to Dallas, TX to become training officer for the 1st Bn 112 Armor, 49th Armored Division, he served in that capacity until he was chosen to attend the Armor Officer Advanced Course in Fort Knox, KY, Upon graduation from the Advance Course CPT Quinn was assigned as training officer of 1st Battalion 179th Infantry, 45 Infantry Brigade Separate. In 1988 he was assigned to Camp Gruber, OK as the Operations Officer and served in that capacity until his retirement as a Major in 1995. During his military career he was awarded, The Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and various other Federal, Texas and Oklahoma medals.
Community Service:
He served on the Fort Gibson Chamber of Commerce from June 1990 until December 1995. He was appointed as Parks and Recreation Director in 1993 by Mayor Judy Nichols and served a two-year term. He is a member of Masonic Lodge Alpha #12 Fort Gibson, Ok. A five-time instructor and Assistant Scoutmaster on the Pinetree Course a leadership course for Patrol Leaders in the Indian Nations Council.
American Legion Service:
Jim is the Department of Oklahoma Commander for 2022-2023. Jim has served the American Legion as Post #20 Vice Commander, and Commander, District Vice Commander 2A, District Commander 2A, Department Executive Committee Representative District 2A, Vice Commander East, Department Boy Scout Committee Chairman. National appointments: Media and Public relations Council, Americanism Council, three-time member of the Gold Brigade.
