It was a grand day for American Legion Post 2 members and others from Collinsville and elsewhere as the new Veterans Building, (Shown here shortly after it's completion and prior to its dedication), was placed into service and turned over to the veterans with much jubilation and fanfare!

Among the festivities that day was a "Bring Your Basket" picinic lunch at Noon, along with free lemonade. A huge parade down Main Street was held at 1:30. At 2:00 pm the Dedication Ceremony which featured Oklahoma Lt. Gov. James E. Berry, American Legion Dpt. of OK Adjutant Elmer L. Fraker, as well as several other guests and dignitaries was held. Col. Sol H. Bayyouth then presented the building to the American Legion and VFW.

At 4:00 pm there was a Rodeo at the Rodeo Grounds, (50 cents admission), and a free Baseball game at Riverside Field. Open House was held from 6 to 9 pm, and the event concluded with a dance at 9:00 pm which featured the music of Johnny Lee Wills and his Band.
