George Lee American Legion Post 532

P.F.C. George Herbert Lee U.S.Army WW II  September 21, 1942 - October 21, 1945 He served with Co. B 343rd Infantry Division, 82nd, Company B, Chemical Warfare Service. He served in the South Pacific- the Philipines, Guadalcanal and New Caladonia.  He was awarded the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Aisa Pacfic Campaign Medal.  He was a Clay County native and a member of the 1st American Legion Post in Clay County- The Bob Roach Post 177, chartered in 1927.

A handfull of Clay County Veterans began meeting, in January 2008, at the Hayesville Library to organise an Americsan legion Post here in town. We dicused what the name of the post should be and canme up with the name of George H. Lee. He was a WW II Combat Veteran and prominent well known citizen of Hayesville. He was also a member of the original Legion Post here in Town.
