A handfull of Clay County Veterans began meeting, in January 2008, at the Hayesville Library to organise an Americsan legion Post here in town. We dicused what the name of the post should be and canme up with the name of George H. Lee. He was a WW II Combat Veteran and prominent well known citizen of Hayesville. He was also a member of the original Legion Post here in Town.

We spoke to his wife and family to seek permision to name the post after him, and received permnission on Feb.26, 2008...  "The Lee family would be honored to have the American Legion Post in Hayesville, North Carolina named after Mr. Georghe Lee."   Signed Mrs. Dorothy Lee.
