The Memorial Day Service was held May 29, 2023, at Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery in Raleigh, NC. To Honor our fallen military heroes, those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The graves of veterans interred at the Raleigh National Cemetery in Raleigh North Carolina where a Wreath and the American flag was placed at the gravesites of the Post’s namesake PVT Charles T. Norwood and the Past Post Adjutant Legionnaire Mrs. Millie Dunn Veasey. The Post members flagged the graves of veterans interred at Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery with an American flag . The Memorial Day Address was given by the guest speaker, Mr. Eddie M. Buffaloe Jr., Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety effective Nov. 1, 2021. Secretary Buffaloe has served as a law enforcement officer for the past 30 years and serves as the sole representative on the governor’s cabinet for the state’s law enforcement, corrections, juvenile justice, and emergency management responsibilities. Buffaloe oversees the state’s homeland security coordination and serves as Governor Cooper’s Homeland Security Advisor. The department has more than 21,000 sworn law enforcement and civilian employees, along with more than 13,000 North Carolina National Guard soldiers and airmen.
