The Celebrate Oberlin Village was held on September 17, 2022, in Raleigh, NC. The events included BBQ Dinner plates, Trolley Tours of Historic Oberlin Village, Jazz Music Performed by John Brown Band, and Friends of Oberlin Village Marketplace. The event included a display table that honors Veterans community. Local vendors set-up display tables to offer individuals information about what's happening in the community. Post Commander James Langston, 1st Vice Commander Gabriel Carr, Historian James Whitaker, Legionnaire Joe Holt and Ladies Auxiliary Unit Vice President Mrs. Geneva Langston manned the Veterans display table, to help publicize the existence of our historic Charles T. Norwood American Legion Post 157. One of the charter members (founders) of Post 157 was World War I Veteran John Jerome Turner who lived in Oberlin Village. The house where he lived, at 1002 Oberlin Road, has been officially designated as Historic property and is known as the Historic John T. and Mary Turner House.
