The Memorial Day Service was held on May 26, 2025, at Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was an opportunity to honor our fallen military heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

     The Post members proudly flagged the graves of veterans interred at Carolina Biblical Gardens Cemetery with the American flag. At the Raleigh National Cemetery, a wreath and the American flag were placed at the gravesite of the Post’s namesake, PVT Charles T. Norwood, and the Past Post Adjutant Legionnaire, Mrs. Millie Dunn Veasey.

     Legionnaire Gabriel Carr, 1st Vice / Adjutant, hosted the event. Honored guests, including the Ladies Auxiliary members, family members, and friends, attended the celebration. Legionnaire Michael Parrot played the music prelude (Patriotic Medley).  Legionnaire Devone Young sang The Nation Anthem and Mrs. Kysha Bethea sang the Goodness of God.

     The Memorial Day Address was given by the guest speaker, The Honorable Glenn M. McNeill, Jr. was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., confirmed by the United States Senate, and appointed on December 9, 2022, to serve as the United States Marshal (USM) for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

     A military veteran, United States Marshal McNeill joined the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in 1993, where he served in various positions starting as a Trooper, multiple assignments within the Special Operations Section, and as a Task Force Officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Rising through the ranks to ultimately leading the Special Operations Unit as its Troop Commander, United States Marshal McNeill was promoted to Major in 2014. In this position, he served as Director of Training and afforded the opportunity to oversee the administration of the State Highway Patrol Training Academy. In 2017, United States Marshal McNeill was appointed by the Governor of North Carolina  as the Commander of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
