At the First January meeting Comrade Reynolds was appointed to get $50 from Willse and DeYong for sign rent. A new car committee was appointed and a motion to buy badges for all past Commanders was passed.
It was reported at the March 10th meeting that L.L. Britton’s bill had been paid and a “good payment” on J.B. Reid’s bill. Comrade Reynolds reports that at this time the Ford has not been purchased.
Preceding the meeting in October a chicken supper was served by the Auxiliary and the Ladies presented the post with $75 to be put in the building fund. Sales from the car netted the Post $366.23.
At the November 24th meeting the committee reported on the new rules established for use of the club.
1. Six dollars per day for use of rooms. (This is the actual operating expense to the post)
2. Two Dollars per afternoon (from 12 o’clock until 6pm) for use of club rooms.
3. Exceptions to the above rules.
a. All churches shall have use of club rooms 2 days per year free of charge
b. Boy Scouts shall have the use of club rooms for their regular meetings free of charge.
c. The Senior and Junior classes of the high school shall each have use of the rooms two days a year free of charge.
d. The use of the club rooms shall be allowed to any organization afternoon or evening (till 9pm) for any business meeting.
At December 8th meeting it was voted to give $25 in gold as prizes to tow ABHS students having the highest average for school years. The boy with the highest to receive $15 and the girl with the highest $10.

A committee has been appointed to make an evaluation of the front of the club house leading down to Walton St. to building steps, and beautifying the grounds. It was voted to buy a bulletin board for the post.
February 9th meeting Treasurer Comrade Posers reports $490 in building fund. It was voted to apply this to payment on building.
The Post agreed to give Comrade Duclon his membership card free of charge for his musical service rendered to the Post at the Legion dances.
Net receipts from the Easter ball were $203.71 and from the food sale at Hartman and Tidd’s Store $27.60 Comrade Harry Webb donated shrubs for front of the club house.
On October 2, 1931 a special meeting was called about improving the grounds on Walton St. by the Town of Alexandria. Majority of the Post voted in favor of having the town beautify the grounds in said areas and erect a memorial to all who served in the World War from the Town of Alexandria. The building Committee will meet with the Town Board to draft up the resolution to be voted on November 3, 1931.
The Dance committee is to put on a Halloween party along with the Auxiliary Oct. 30th.
It was voted to raffle off radio after Bingo game wed. Nov. 4th- Netted Post $65. Comrade Quinn and Lyman volunteered to form 2 teams for a membership drive. The loosing team to furnish supper. Renewing members worth 5 points- new ones 10 points.

Welfare Committee reports that Comrade Lee reported moving Mrs. Mary Plimpton from Mrs. Spencer’s to Fred Duclon’s room over the boat house and buying a cook stove for her to use from Hartman and Tidd’s at a cost of $22. The stove is to remain the property of the John B. Lyman Post
The Post voted to have a box social along with the Auxiliary. Boxes to be auctioned off for no more than 25 cents.
Motion made and carried to have the adjutant write to the adjutant of the Spanish war veterans and offer them free use of the club rooms during their convention in July.
Welfare committee reports paying $4 for coal for Mrs. Plimpton.
Comrade Lee was appointed Captain of the “wrecking crew” to round up the members of the drum and Bugle Corps for practice on Wednesday night.
The post voted to raise the flag pole at end of club rooms facing Walton St. Tuesday may 24th. All Members to meet at club house by 6pm.
Motion was made and carried that Post pay for instruction books for drum and bugle corps.

TI Sun June 10, 1937 “Flag Donated by Gold Star Mother” “Alexandria Bay – The 8 to 12 ft. flag, flying atop the newly erected flag pole at the Legion Park was donated by Mrs. L.F. Lyman only Gold Star Mother of this Village. The flag is in memory of her son, 1st Lieutenant John B. Lyman, who was killed overseas during the war and for whom the local post is named.

Unveiling of Legion Tablet
The tablet, a memorial for all time to those who served from the Town of Alexandria in World War I and indirectly those who in times of peace have worked for the betterment of their community and country, is hung in the granite rock at the back of the lower level and draped with the American Flag.
At the service Rev. Father Dussault of St. Cyril’s Church gave the invocation. Clinton Jones, Commander of the John B. Lyman Post acted as Master of Ceremonies. Supervisor Ross Parker gave the presentation speech to which J. Hubert Hunt replied in acceptance. Marie Lyman, niece of 1st Lt. John B. Lyman, who was killed in action and for whom the post is named, unveiled the tablet while the Lowville Band played military music.
County Judge Henry J. Kimball was the guest speaker emphasizing the fight of the Legion to preserve the ideals of democracy, the one priceless possession this generation can pass to its successor.
A memorial service was held for all deceased veterans. White clad girls carrying red poppies placed them in a vase beside the tablet as the name of the deceased was red. Rev. Earl Compton gave the benediction.
Besides those mentioned there were included on the rostrum: Wm. Aver, Henry Leonhardt, mayor Melvin Ferrill, Alfred Lee, Walter l. Day, Wm. Vesty, Gould Lyman, Ralph Reed, Sam Guerriere, Honored guests were Mrs. Eva Lyman, Gold Star Mother, Miss Mary Nunn, Miss Cecelia Fogarty, sister of late Father Fogarty, wo was a charter member of the post and chaplain until he moved away.
June 9th 1938 TI Sun “ Marie Lyman, niece of First Lieutenant John B. Lyman, for whom local American Legion Post was named, unveiled the memorial tablet at the ceremony held Sunday at Legion Park. Supervisor Ross Parker as the representative of the Town of Alexandria gave the presentation speech and J. Hubert Hunt past commander of the post, the acceptance speech. The tablet will be a memorial of those who served from the Town of Alexandria.
