American Legion Commander, officiated
in the dedication ceremonies
at the new Millerton American Legion
Post home on Saturday, May
16. Some 250 people, including county
officials and state and district American
Legion officers, turned out for
the dedication. '
. Among the speakers for the day,
besides Mr. Petty, were Hamilton
Fish sr., former congressman; Le-
Pvoy Wilson, ninth district commander
of the Legion; Edwin Stoll, Dutchess
County commander; Thomas
Mahar, -chairman of the board of
supervisors; Post Commander Roger
Bradley; Stanley Pulver, supervisor
of the Town of North East; and
William Gormley, mayor of Millerton.
Past Commander Robert Willcoxson
served as master of ceremonies.
The celebration continued into the
evening as guests gathered in the
new brick veneer building for refreshments
and dancing to the music
of Harold Hayes and his orchestra.
The new Legion building replaces
a former headquarters behind the
Brick Block Hotel in Millerton which
was gutted by fire some time ago.
