On December 3rd, 2016, the Stephen C. Ludlam Post 331 of the American Legion held its third annual reception at the Post to honor local World War II veterans and the Post’s sponsored “Home for the Holiday” winners from the US Coast Guard (USGC) Training Center at Cape May, NJ. Post 331 provides the funding for USCG single and married members and their families selected by a board of USCG senior non-commissioned officers to travel home for the Christmas holidays. Members of the Post’s Sons of the American Legion Squadron supported this affair by providing the food, beverages, and decorations. This reception was an excellent opportunity for the USCG personnel to meet and talk with representatives of “the greatest generation” and for these veterans to share their experiences with the newer members of our fighting force. The reception was attended by approximately 80 people, to include Jim Scanlon, American Legion Department of New Jersey Executive Committee member for Cape May County.
