Two remarkable young ladies, Katherine Toll and Julia Weeder, wanted to do a project to honor our WWII veterans by preserving their experiences for posterity. With the encouragement and technical assistance of their aunt and uncle, Kate and Charles Tweedy, they developed a well-organized program for interviewing of our veterans. Their conduct of these interviews was exceptionally professional and truly captured the experiences of our veterans and the sacrifices they had made for our country and our freedom. The end product was a beautifully arranged DVD entitled “Seaside Heroes” which provides a lasting record of these veterans for our post and the communities of Avalon and Stone Harbor. The eight WWII veterans, whose stories were captured were: John J DeAngelis (US Army); Judson Ellis, Jr (US Army); John T Fallon II (US Army); Lawrence Oster (US Navy); Henry R. Spaventa (US Navy); John Van Horn (US Army Air Corps); Edward J White (US Navy); and Coy B Zachary (US Navy).
