Many projects were part of the restoration of the Post building to its appearance in the 1900s. In October 2006, Post members Al Carusi, Dick Pike, Ray Kurian and Bill Lehman traveled to Brewster, MA on Cape Cod to retrieve a surf boat of the type used by the men of the U. S. Life-Saving and Coast Guard stations. The surf boat was in bad condition and needed extensive restoration. During the summer of 2007, Post member Rick Olson completed the repairs and painting of the boat. Additionally, an open enclosure and roof to protect the boat was built by the Craig Otton Builders and donated to the Post by the Otton family children: Josie Rich, Craig Otton and Jeff Otton. The donation was in honor of their father, James C. Otton, a former Post member, a WWII Vet and a POW. On Veterans’ Day 2007, the surf boat and enclosure was formally dedicated. Follow on efforts applied the official Life-Saving painting scheme to the boat.
