BELLEVILLE, NJ - American Legion Post 105, located on Washington Ave in Belleville, NJ will be celebrating its centennial anniversary at 4pm on 10 November 2019, which falls on Veteran’s Day weekend. The theme for this 100-year celebration is “Legacy and Vision” - a celebration of past accomplishments and a renewal of the organization’s resolve to serve communities, states and the nation for a second century.
Post 105 was chartered on 9 September 1919, making it one of the older posts in the country. The American Legion itself was established by officers and men of the American Expeditionary Force on 15 March 1919 in Paris, France, and was federally chartered on September 16, 1919, by the United States Congress.
This 100-year celebration for Post 105 will follow the Township of Belleville Veteran’s Day parade, which will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, 10 November. Following the conclusion of ceremonies at the parade, all are invited to the Post at 621 Washington Ave where, at 3pm, a short ceremony will be held commemorating this landmark event in Post 105’s history. Refreshments will be provided by various eateries throughout Belleville and Nutley.
This event is being sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 105.
This event is also open to all members of the American Legion Family, veterans, and families of veterans. We also ask that members of the local media cover this event.
