Members of the Nebraska American Legion Family raised enough money to install a new flagpole and memorial to honor the town of Pilger after much of it was destroyed by twin tornadoes in 2014. The flagpole dedication, which took place on Flag Day 2015, was a special event attended by many state dignitaries and Past National Commander of The American Legion Mike Helm.
