On 6 February 2017 Dave Delong a Life Time member of Post 59 was presented with a Quilt of Valor. Doug Boldt, National Vice-Commander of the Midwest Region and also a member of Post 59 was asked to present the quilt. A local long time friend, Em Jorgenson, makes quilts. She heard about the Quilt of Valor Foundation and became involved in making quilt squares for the group. Em then decided to make a quilt for Dave. After she made the top and back she sent them to New Hampshire and from there it was sent to San Antonio, Texas to be quilted. Upon the return of the quilt, Em put on the binding and labels. The quilt is registered with the Quilt of Valor Foundation. Dave Delong is a WWII veteran. Dave was on the USS Yorktown during the Battle of the Coral Sea and when it was lost in 1942 during the Battle of Midway.
