
Samuel Thomas Pappas, a 49 year continuous member of the American Legion, passed away. Samuel was an active member of the Loy J. Molumby Post 3, the Great Falls and surrounding community, the American Legion District 8 and the Department of the American Legion Montana.
Samuel was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 18, 1932 to Thomas J. and Mary (Stratakos) Pappas. He retired a Command Sergeant Major with U.S. Army and a veteran of the Korean War. Samuel was a community leader and activist for activity duty members, Veterans and their families. He held offices in the Orthodox Church,American Legion, Montana Veteran's Memorial, Silver Beaver, and countless others.
Samuel Pappas will not be forgotten and long remember by the his family, the American Legion, community and State.
Samuel was a member of Loy J. Molumby Post 3 since 1994. He was Post Commander from 1998-2000, 2000-2001, 2008-2009. Samuel was selected to be the Department of Montana's Sergeant-at-Arms for the Department Commanders Joyce Babcock, 1998-1999; Arthur Ellison, 2000-2001; Edward Sperry, 2001-2002; Bob Beals, 2003-2004; Sylvia Beals, 2004-2005; David McLean, 2007-2008; Elmer Palmer, 2008-2009; David Driver, 2010-2011. Samuel was elected Department Executive Committeeman for 2000-2001. He served on the staff of the Department of Montana's Boy State as a counselor for a number of years. Samuel was an American Legion Gold Brigade recruiter for 2000-2001.
