After the Post Home was moved to the Mercer Community Building, it was discovered that there was no place for a flagpole in front of the building (we had not had one in front of the old Post home either). We put a flag out on one of the posts that holds the "front porch" covering up but found out the wind or vandals took it down. A local business, Robinson's Service, donated a 38' high flagpole to the Legion. The Legion members decided to place the pole in the back of the building to avoid powerlines and nearby structures. A sidewalk was built, Grundy Electric Cooperative (the local electric provider) moved the flagpole to the Post) and Kale Construction built the sidewalk and pad for the flagpole and put it up. A flag has been flying over the Post home since mid-October of 2022, as it should be.
