During "Veterans Week" activities, the Mercer American Legion and the Princeton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post demonstrated how funeral honours are rendered when a veteran passes away. This was done at the Mercer Fire Protection District Fire House in front of North Mercer School District staff and students so that they could see how this is done and learn about funeral honours since many of them have never seen funeral honours performed. Thanks to the Princeton VFW Post which works with the Mercer American Legion to provide funeral honours for any veteran/family that requests them, the North Mercer School for allowing the time for students and staff to be out of class for veteran activities this year and over many years, and to the Mercer Fire Protection District for the use of their parking lot for the demonstration.
