The Legion Auxiliary holds a Flag Retirement Ceremony at least once per year, usually around Veterans Day. The ceremony around the time of Veteran's Day is held as part of Veterans Day observances and is used as an educational tool to teach the youth of the community how to correctly dispose of flags that should no longer be displayed. As can been seen by the poster shown in the photo gallery, the North Mercer school very kindly allows old flags to be collected year-round at the school since there is usually someone at the school 5 days a week year-round. The school works with the Legion and Auxiliary to educate students in Americanism by helping with flag disposal and also providing a place for an annual Veterans Day program. The Legion is very grateful to the school for its support!
