On June 3, 2017, Daniels - Shafer Post 445 held its first annual Tractor Cruise.

The cruise was designed to boost membership, garner support for the VA service dog program, and start a group that would serve as a "little brother" to The American Legion Riders when members get too old to safely operate a motorcycle.

A total of 22 tractors participated in the event and Post 445 garnered five new members and 12 applications to start a Sons of The American Legion Squadron as well as a $1,000 to support the VA service dog program.

The Post hopes to make the Tractor Cruise Division first a Department level program and eventually a National operation.

The event received national exposure through The American Legion's website and from coverage from WDAF TV in Kansas City, whose report was seen in both California and other markets. It is believed over 600,000 people have heard of the event.
