"When the Legion purchased the current building in 1947 they also were granted a parcel of property north of the water storage tank. That property is seen here enclosed in the fence. However, when the basement was dug there was no survey done and the fence and trees had been removed so there was nothing to measure off of. Unfortunately the basement was dug only 14 ft. north of the storage tank and the city has since had numerous surveys that show our building is half on city property half on Legion property. What does the court of public opinion say? Personally I think we are within the fence area and therefore on our property, but satellite surveys can't be wrong, or can it?"
