"Quick update on Austin Witt...Ash Grove's representative citizen at the 2013 of Missouri Boys State. Austin is one of over 925 citizens participating this year. Austin is getting a unique perspective, as each city has an exchange citizen from China. Through a first-ever exchange program coordinator by former Gov. Bob Holden, 16 young men from China are participating in Boys State as an accurate lesson in establishing a Democracy.

According to the website, Austin has been elected City Councilman Ward III of Pershing City. Congrats to Austin! Without a doubt, Austin will worked towards making Pershing city the best and possibly awarded the top honor of "Model City." In addition, Austin's fellow citizens of Pershing are making history by having a state record of appointed officials and his city was awarded the coveted Government Supply Outlet. All of these achievements speak highly of Austin and his fellow citizens of Pershing.

Both former Gov. Bob Holden and Kansas City Mayor Sly James have addressed the group. Tonight State Treasurer Clint Zwiefel will speak and tomorrow night the 25th Annual Lehr Award will be presented to famed political journalist, Bob Woodward.

More information, as well as 100s of photos, can be found on www.moboysstate.org. I'll be watching for more updates on Austin & share them as I can. His participation in this "week to shape a lifetime" is made possible by the support of Post #307 and various AG businesses. Thank you for making this opportunity available to Austin, as well as to past and future AGHS students."
