Vivian Maud Howell was an Army Nurse in World War One and a member of our Post. After first volunteering her services to the Red Cross in 1917, she reported to Camp Wadsworth in Spartanburg, S.C. to attend the Army School of Nursing. Following six months there she sailed with the 27th Division, 102nd Sanitary Train. Initially she served at Chateau Thierry which was behind the lines. Later she served at a base hospital in Paris and was there when the Armistice was signed in November 1918. Later she served with the Occupation Forces at Coblenz, Germany She sailed back to the United States in June of 1919 where she was discharged in New York.
