American Legion National Commander Charles E. Schmidt of the Department of Oregon attended a dinner held at Craig School in Craig, Missouri and sponsored by Story-Hardin Post 164 in Craig.
National Commander Schmidt was raised in Craig, Missouri and was first a member of The American Legion through Story - Hardin Post 164 in Craig. National Commander Schmidt's older brother - who was a Past Commander of Post 164 - signed him up as a Legion member in 1984 while Commander Schmidt was still in the United States Air Force. He eventually transferred to Post 63 in the Department of Oregon after relocating there with his family after retiring from the USAF.
