American Legion McDonald-Dugger-Duncan Post 11 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, joined with the Saint Joseph Chamber of Commerce in getting the new municipal airport named in honor of Sergeant Guy Wallace Rosecrans, the only airman from Saint Joseph to die in World War I.

As part of that effort, Post 11 dedicated a memorial to Sgt. Rosecrans at the airport. The memorial consists of a granite stone with a plaque. The memorial has been moved twice as the airport was moved on two occasions.
