The University of Minnesota Post 548 was organized shortly after the conclusion of WWII. The Post membership is comprised mainly of Faculty, Retired Faculty, other University Employees and Retired Employees, Students and former students of the University of Minnesota.

The Post has never owned real estate or operated as a social club and is purely a service organization of the American Legion.

Past service projects have included leadership in the purchase of the huge American Flag unfurled by the University Band each home football game. Leadership in the development of the University Brain Science Center, and continuing persistent lobbying effort for veterans and families benefits at the local, state and national level.
