Previous Meeting’s Minutes

 

May 23, 2019 Meeting Minutes were read by individuals at the meeting and entered into the record. 

 

Treasurer’s Report

 

Financial report was read by the Commander and entered into the record.  

 

Membership

 

Discussion around paying the membership dues for WWII veterans. A motion was made by ?, Russ seconded the motion. The motion passed. 2 new members were welcomed tonight. 

 

Communications

 

The interviews of WWII members have been posted to the Post’s Facebook page. The flag burning at Big Marine and the launch of the Minneapolis St. Paul was also shared on the page. Please remember to check the page to see what other activities the post is involved in. 

 

Service Officer

 

The ceremony presenting Robert Beltz’s family with the paver was discussed and how it was difficult for people to see the ceremony. The Beltz family is moving to Seattle. The Dick Stafford Memorial Golf tournament is August 12. There was some discussion about who is responsible for the Veterans Memorial in Woodbury. August 13 is the joint picnic at Carver Lake. Discussion around participation in the Woodbury Days Parade.   

 

Donation Committee

 

Three requests were received, one was from the Veterans Camp on Big Marine. Dale went to a meeting at the camp and talked about how Bayport donated $10,000 to the camp. Dale Made a motion to donate $1,000 to the camp, Bob Halter seconded the motion. After discussion the motion was passed. 

 

Old Business

 

The Post has officer positions open for Commander, Adjutant and Financial Officer.  There was discussion around where the funds that are raised at the golf tourney will go. The cost to golf is $125, with 30% going to the Veterans Memorial fund. There will be pavers sod. 1,000 invitations were sent out. Registration starts at 9:30 with a shotgun start at noon. The VFW will provide beverages at the joint picnic. The picnic will be from 5 – 9 and there will be dignitaries invited.

 

 

 

New Business

 

A suggestion to purchase a bill counter was discussed. Dale made a motion to split the cost with the VFW for a counter, Paul seconded the motion. The Commander disagreed with the need to spend the money since the bank does not charge us to count the cash.  The motion was voted down by the members present.

 

Conversation was had about recognizing the Stillwater Auxiliary for the donation of the uniforms for the rifle squad.  A motion was made by Bruce to pay have of $126.50 for memorial uniforms. Paul seconded, and the motion passed.

 

 

 

Announcements

 

Thank you notes were received from the Boys State attendees. A thank you was received from the school patrol for our donation.

 

 

 

The DAV will be presenting at the St. Paul Park American Legion on July 17 at 9 a.m.
