Duane "Bud" Redepenning of the Post is elected Department Commander of the Minnesota America Legion Saturday, at the Legion’s annual State Convention in Bloomington.
Redepenning, a member of Anoka American Legion Edward B. Cutter Post, ran unopposed and won all ten Districts of the Minnesota American Legion. A thousand Legionnaires and Auxiliary attended the Convention, July 10-12.

Redepenning retired from employment with the County, after many years of service in various areas. Eligible for The American Legion through his service in the with U.S. Army during the Korean War, he was Commander of the Post for 1972-73. The Post has recognized his value with an 'Honored Life Membership'.

He was the Tenth District Commander in 1977-78, served as a District Vice Commander, and has been Americanism Chairman for eight years, was Boys State Chairman one year and Rehabilitation Chairman one year, and was Chairman of the Membership and Revitalization committee. Bud was active in community work, as well as Department Legion roles.

Redepenning, and his wife Betty Ann, make their home in Anoka. She is past President of Auxiliary Unit 102. They have one son and two daughter, and two grandsons. Two brothers and his son, are Legion members.
