There was a birthday party at the American Legion in Grand Ledge March 15, 1997 and they celebrated with dinner, awards, a guest speaker and birthday cake. Post Commander Jim Dayton and Auxiliary President Ginny Balgoyen shared the master of ceremonies duties and recognized Gordon Briggs, Bob Corey, Bill Pollit and Bill Baird for being Legion members for 50 years. They received certificates and pins. A lone table set for one recognized POW's and MIA's.

Ginny Balgoyen presented Florence Edwards with a the Lois Lawrence Award for her 72 years of continuous membership and service to the Auxiliary. Florence also celebrated her 73rd birthday that evening.

Doug Love received an award recognizing his 30 years of service to the youth baseball program.

Adelane "Dilly" Love received a "Life Time Membership" for her 30 year of membership and service to the Auxiliary and their programs.

Grand Ledge Police Chief Marty Underhill was guest speaker. A dance immediately following the dinner and program rounded out the evenings celebration.
