Headed by 49-year member Russ Hammond, Hastings' Lawrence J Bauer Post 45 started a wide-ranging renovation project that will see an expanded and redecorated lounge/meeting room area and fit our building out with energy-saving improvements. Much of the work is expected to be "sweat equity" in nature. A dozen member-"volunteers" headed by Commander Gary Wear worked all day Thursday April 2 and Friday April 3 to remove paneled walls and suspended ceiling to initiate the project. Meetings will be held in the restaurant area, but comrades will be unable to quaff their favorite thirst quenchers until late summer, when work is scheduled to be completed.
