Temporary Officers Selected-Permanent Organization To Follow First Regular Meeting August 15; It Is Expected That State Speakers Will Be Present At That Meeting

Last month a post of the American Legion was organized in this city with the following charter members, all residents of this city: Maurice Foreman, Burr VanHouton, Lewis Bishop, Steve Tsaglas, M. Vere Miller, Walter S. Phelps, Harry R. Miller, David Goodyear Jr., Charles W. Sherwood, Roy G. Hubbard, Edward J. Harrington, Ralph W. Ward, William M. McKnight, R.V. Tanner, and Robert Born.

The local post is named in honor of Lawrence V. (ed.- J.) Bauer, the local boy whose death in France we have recorded. The number of the post is 45 and it's charter was issued July 19.
The following temporary officers were chosen for the post: President - Charles W. Sherwood; Vice President - Burr VanHouten; Secretary- Maurice Foreman; Treasurer - Roy Hubbard. The first regular meeting of Lawrence Bauer Post will be held on Friday evening Aug. 15 at 8:30 at the court house. At this meeting permanent officers will will be chosen. At the same time it will be decided what shall be the regular meeting nights, and where the meetings shall be held.

It is expected that some state speaker will be present and give an address. It is desired that many more who served in our war with Germany shall attend the meetings with the local post of the American Legion.
