Frank Wendland Post 253, to be. Designation of local organization, Charter on way.
Doughboys, gobs and leathernecks, American veterans of the great war, gathered at the high school Tuesday evening to hear State Commander, A.H. Gansser of the American Legion, tell of the aims and purpose of that organization.
Application for a charter for Frank Wendland Post No. 253, of Royal Oak has been forwarded to National Headquarters in Indianapolis for final approval, after having been approved by Michigan Headquarters in Detroit.
Formal organization of the Post will be completed, Monday Jan. 26th at 7:30 pm at the high school. All men who have served honorably in the Army, Navy and Marine Corps. between April 6, 1917 and November 11, 1918, are eligible for membership. Although the men in charge of preliminary arrangement, have made every effort to get in touch with all ex-service men in Royal Oak, they realize that they have been unable to reach many men who have become residents of Royal Oak since the armistice was signed.
