......An installation of officers of the Simeon L. Nickerson Post 64 American Legion was observed on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at post headquarters on Thatcher’s Row. Assuming their new positions are Bob Lessard, Commander; Paul Provencher, Senior Vice-Commander; Tex Washburn, Junior Vice-Commander; Eric Goodnow, Adjutant and Walt Elliott, Chaplain.
......Continuing in other Post positions respectfully are Bruce Wright, Sergeant At Arms; Bill Franks, Armorer; Bob Lessard, Historian; Bert Lerner, Judge Advocate; and Richard Mays as outgoing Finance Officer.
......Members of the Post were treated to a meal prior to their meeting by a dozen scouts of Troop 64, which is sponsored by Post 64. Led by Scoutmaster Barry Schuster and a group of parents, the scouts served the seated veterans a meal consisting of a bowl of tasty fish chowder, hamburgers, hot dogs and salad.
......Scoutmaster Schuster proudly displayed the Troop’s new cargo trailer, which was parked in the Town Hall parking lot. The trailer was donated to the troop by members of the Mitchell Club. Decals on both sides of the trailer are large American Legion logos and thank you signage to the Mitchell Club.
......Proudly and prominently displayed on the front of the trailer are names of 26 Honor Roll scouts of Troop 64, who earned Eagle Scout status over the years.
