......As part of National Boy Scout Sunday observances, parents and scout members of Middleboro’s Troop 64 held a promotion ceremony on Sunday February 7, 2016 with the highlight being the awarding of an Eagle Scout badge to Thomas Grant.
......The event was held in the Oak Point Community Center, where scouts and family members gathered for the award presentations. Troop 64 is sponsored by the Simeon L. Nickerson Post 64 American Legion, which has been associated with the Troop since the 1980’s, according to Scoutmaster Barry Schuster.
......Thomas Grant became the 26th member of Troop 64 to gain the highly regarded Eagle Scout status. His project involved creating a raised garden at Middleboro’s Council of aging complex.
......Paul Provencher, Middleboro’s Veterans Service Officer and Post 64 Past Commander was one of several who spoke at the event and who offered congratulations to the new Eagle Scout.
......Mr. Provencher also congratulated other scouts of the Troop who gained promotional badges. They were: Jack LeGendre, Scout; Michael Grant, Tenderfoot; Brendon Hayes, Second Class; Nick Gerrior, First Class; Joshua Desmond, Star; and Eric Baldwin, Life badge.
Others present at the Eagle Scout ceremony were Scouts Cory Holzworth, David LeGendre and Jack Gerrior. Adults attending were Donna and Fred Grant, James Desmond, Mark DeNicola, Bob Smith, Barry Schuster, Chris Sporer, Paul Provencher and David Golden. (Posted By Bob Lessard Post 64 Historian.)
