.........The members of the committee would like to thank all the restaurants, dessert shops,

....beer and wine distributors, retailers, and all those that attended our 12th annual Taste of

....Middleborough (TOM) event on the 7th of October, 2015. All the comments we received during

....the evening, and on the days following, pointed to the fact that this was even better than

....last year. The tickets for the TOM, once again, sold out in only a matter of weeks. The

....monies raised from this event go directly to the care and maintenance of the Middleborough

....Veterans’ Memorial Park.

..........A special thanks goes out to the new owners of the Oak Point community. This was the

....5th year in a row that they hosted this event in their grand ballroom. They went above and

....beyond to bring together everything that the committee needed of them.

.........To all who volunteered, the committee would like to say thank you. With the

....volunteers, wearing their coveted yellow volunteer T- shirts, they were better able to cut

....down on the lines and confusion as the event started. They kept the dining tables clear of

....used plates and debris, plus they replenished additional items needed on the tables. A big

....thank you to the section leaders in the dinning room. They were: Nancy Thomas, Louise

....Wright, John Hocking, and Dave Hayes.

.........All the team leaders did an outstanding job overseeing the volunteers in their

....sections were. They were: Bruce Wright of the parking crew, Mike Palmer headed up the

....Chinese and silent auction crew for the 5th year in a row and his volunteers did a great j

....job. Bob Lessard headed up the crew of Bristol/Plymouth culinary arts students that brought

....in all the food items and such for the restaurants and desert shops. Peter Chuppi headed up

....the crew that kept the flow in the food lines moving smoothly along with our youngest

....volunteer 11 year old Jake Nickerson. Fred Roberson headed up the trash crew and did an

....excellent job. Val Ortelt headed up the greeters at the 2 entrance doors and kept her

....fellow worker Norm Record in line.

.........The set-up and tear-down went smoother than ever with the large number of volunteers

....we had. Some of them worked for months to line up all the restaurants and other businesses

....that make the event such a big success. On the day of the event a major flurry of activity

....took place by this great group of volunteers to bring everything together and put

....everything away.

..........Some specials thanks to specific individuals and businesses still need to be made.

....Muckeys’ Liquors has been with this event since we started and they, once again, did an

....outstanding job organizing the whole beer and wine sampling portion of the event.

..........Brian, at Grants’ Rental, has been our go to guy for rental items needed since we

....started this event. We’ve really come to depend on him for all of our rental needs related

....to veteran events and he’s never disappointed us.

..........The committee is looking forward to hosting this event again next October. We’ll be

....putting out information on this starting in August of 2015, so watch for it. As we all

....know, tickets sell out quickly.

...........This was truly the social event of the year for the town of Middleborough.
