Boys and Girls State Representatives Named…..May 7, 1981
MIDDLEBORO GAZETTE :- Six members of Middleboro High School junior class were recently named representatives to Boys and Girls state. Two of the six named were named as alternates. Middleboro High School principal William announced the decisions.

……………Selections were made by Middleboro High School and Simeon L. Nickerson Post 64, American Legion, and its auxiliary, for Boys State, which will be held at Nichols College in Dudley, and Girls State, which will be held at Bridgewater State College.

…………….Representing the boys will be David C. Benoit, Robert Desrosiers and alternate, Robert P. McGuirk. Talitha A. Beane, Sheila O’Leary and alternate Tracy Grant, were chosen to represent the girls.

……………..David Benoit, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Benoit of 375 Plymouth Street, is a member of the National Honor Society at MHS and participates in football. Basketball and track. He has been named to several area all scholastic teams for football and plans to attend college after graduation.

……………..Robert Desrosiers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Desrosiers, 116 South Main Street, is a member of the National Honor Society, stage band and track team at MHS and plans to major in engineering.

……………..Alternate Robert McGuirk is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo McGuirk, 33 Susan Lane. He is president of the junior class, is a member of the National Honor Society, Silver M and football and baseball teams. He also plans to major in engineering.

………………Talitha Beane is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beane, Saturday Farm. She is a member of the National Honor Society and MHS Outing club and plans to major in veterinary science after graduation. She will attend the Massachusetts Advanced Studies Program at Milton Academy during the summer.

……………..Sheila O’Leary, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher O’Leary of 165 Centre Street, is a member of the National Honor Society, Silver M, Student Council and Student Advisory Council. She will also attend the Advanced Studies Program at Milton Academy during the summer and plans to attend college as a pre-law major.
