lawn. Mr. Tower is the Police Chief of Middleboro and is a Past Commander of the American

Legion Simeon. L. Nickerson Post 64.

A letter sent by the Board of Selectmen dated December 12, 1967 sent to Mr. Tower reads:

“Dear Mr. Tower,

On behalf of the people of Middleborough, may we take this opportunity to thank you

personally for your untiring efforts in securing the “Veterans Memorial Monument.”

The monument stands as a symbol to those who gave their lives so that others may enjoy the

breath of freedom; it is a tribute and a remembrance to those who served beyond the call of

duty and country. It is only because of you and dedicated people like you that such a project

was possible.

Truly, only you can appreciate the long and frustrating hours it must take to make such a

dream come true. And the, again, only you can realize the inner satisfaction upon seeing the

seed of your labor bear fruit. You have the deep sense of community feeling.

Again, thank you for a job well done………………………………………………….Very Truly Yours,

Signed by ……..Anders Martenson, Irving H. Murphy, Jr., Paul T. Anderson, George W. Standish,

Leo Kahian……..Board of Selectmen.
