Ernest B. Montrond Elected Commander Post 64

………………………..PRESS RELEASE MIDDLEBORO:- Ernest B. Montrond was elected Commander of Simeon L.

Nickerson 64,The American Legion for the coming year. He will be installed on Saturday,

September 14 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on Station Street.

………The installations will include officers of Auxiliary 64 and those of the Julian M.

Southworth Post 164 of Carver. District 10 Commander William Noyes of West Bridgewater and his

staff will install both Legion Posts. Mrs. Hazel Pease, district 10 director, and her staff

will install the Auxiliary.

….....Mr. Montrond served in the U. S. Navy from June 1943 until his discharge on December 26,

1945. He was stationed at Norfolk, VA, where he attained the rank of Coxswain. He was employed

by Winthrop Atkins Company since 1941.

……..He is married to the former Helen L. Athanasiou of Middleboro. Thevcouple have one

daughter, Helen, a junior at Taunton High School. The family lives at 1161 Middleboro Avenue,

East Taunton.

……..Other Post officers to be installed include August Silva, senior vice-commander; George W.

Stetson, junior vice-commander; John Gilfoy, adjutant; W. Earl Derrick, assistant adjutant and

Ralph B. Mendall, finance officer.

………Also, John D. Rice, assistant finance officer; Franklin G. Harlow, historian; Clifton A.

McCrillis, chaplain; Henry Junior, sergeant-at - arms; Robert Whitaker, assistant sergeant-at

- arms; Harold E. Tower, Americanization officer; Roland Brule, graves registration officer;

Fletcher Clark, jr., judge advocate; Mr. Tower, service officer and Mr. Whitaker, assistant

service officer.

………Mrs. Harold Tower will be installed as president of the Auxiliary for her second term.

Other officers are Mrs. Jennie Sylveria, senior vice-president; Mrs. Ernest Montrond, junior

vice-president; Mrs. Alice Anderson, secretary; Mrs. Clarence Hayward, treasurer; Mrs. Mae

Campbell, sergeant-at-arms and Mrs. Mary Curley, Mrs. Clifton McCrillis and Mrs. Harold
