40 & 8 Installs New Officers
………………..MIDDLEBORO GAZETTE : - Installation of officers of Plymouth Voiture No. 49 La Societe

des 40 Hommes st 8 Chevaux, was held at the Simeon L. Nickerson Post No. 64 in Middleboro,

Sept 12 at 1:30 p.m. The installing officer was Grand Chef de Train, John R. Haynes of Quincy,

ably assisted by Grand Conducteur J. Edward Barry of Brockton.

.....The following officers were installed: Chef de Gare, Everett Caswell of Middleboro; Chef de

train, Bernard P. Riedell of Plymouth; commissaire intendant, Frank A. Vancini, Plymouth;

correspondent, Herve A. Tourigny, Lakeville; conducteur, Clifton A. Bumpus, Plymouth; Garde de

le Port, Albert Shurtleff, Plymouth; Commis Voyageur, John A. Lacombe of Middleboro; Lampiste,

Fred M. Wright, Middleboro and Cheminot local, Alfred N. Gifford and James O’Brien of Plymouth

and Everett L. Saunders of Middleboro.

......Representative Donald Nicholson of Wareham spoke of the pleasant times he had with the 40/8/.

Commander Edward L. Shaw represented the Simeon L. Nickerson Post, 9th District Commander

Brockton. Florida Voyageur Paul Le Fevre of Palm Beach, welcomed the voyageurs to visit with

him when they attend the National Convention next year.

......Announcements were made that Plymouth Voiture No. 49 has been awarded second prize for

increased membership in this Voiture district. Tokens of appreciation were presented to

Voyageurs Haynes and Barry.

......Remarks were made by the installing officers, the Grand Conducteur, Past Chef Daniel Sullivan

and now a Grand Cheminot and Chef elect Everett Caswell. Refreshments were served after the
