……………Commander Franklin D. Harlow outlined Post 64’s plans for the coming year and announced

that one of the main objectives is an active membership drive. He announced the plans during

the membership supper held at Post headquarters.

…………..The supper was prepared and served under the auspices of the Legion Auxiliary. Twenty-

two members of the membership committee attended the event.

…………..Guest and principal speaker for the evening was Richard L. Buckley of Salem, State

Department vice-commander of the American Legion. He also serves on the State Department’s

membership committee. His appearance at the supper officially opened the membership drive for

the Post.

………….He explained the methods used by the Department in conducting membership campaigns and

stressed the importance of every member of a post in such drives. He stated, “The full co-

operation of every member of your post is needed to insure the success of your campaign.”

………….In addition to Mr. Buckley, speakers included Past Commander Vincent J. Robidoux, also a

member of the State’s membership board and Commander Harlow, who told the audience that the

Post has a goal of 400 new members.

…………The campaign, which is headed by Vice-Commander John D. Rockwell, is scheduled to continue

through November 19 when the Post charter closes for the year.
