……….The Memorial Association of the Simeon L. Nickerson Post 64 American Legion Board of
Directors received notification of insurance renewal from The Reliance Insurance Company
of Philadelphia. The company is represented locally by R. W. Drake.
……….According to company statements, insurance for a one year period, starting on September 1,
1947, will cost $16.00. Coverage for damage to furniture & fixtures in the Legion Hall and
rooms will be up to $500.00.
……….The $500 limit will cover: “furniture and fixtures of every description, including tools,
implements and utensils, floor coverings, shades, fuel, stationery, advertising matter and
signs; and on such other fixtures and machinery as are not insured with the building while
contained in the two story, frame building (Legion Hall and Club Rooms), situated at Nos. 9-11
South Main Street, in Middleboro, Massachusetts.”
……….The insurance will expire on September 1, 1948. Reginald W. Drake, acting as agent for the
company, signed the coverage paperwork.
………A renewal of the building mortgage for $1500 was signed with Middleborough Trust Company on
September 10, 1947. Representing the Memorial Association at the mortgage signing was Everett
L. Saunders, treasurer, and representing the bank was Fletcher Clark.
………Mortgage payments will be “payable in the manner following: $25.00 a month on the principal
beginning February 10, 1948 until September 10, 1950, when the balance of said sum shall be
due and payable, with interest at the rate of five and one-half per centum per annum
quarterly.”
