the committee is ready, he has the stickers for shipment to addresses of destination.

that all is in readiness for shipment of these old records. The committee is just waiting for
the arrival of shipping parcels expected momentarily.
.......March 14, 1944:- Three packages of old phonograph records weighing a total of 185
pounds were shipped today. Handling the shipment as delivering carrier was the New York, New
Haven and Hartford Railroad at the Middleboro railyard.
....... The shipment by S. L. Nickerson Post 64 American Legion was signed for by E. L.
Saunders as the shipper. The three packages were addressed to the Columbia Recording Company,

........April 19, 1944:- A post card from American Legion Headquarters, Indianapolis, Indiana,
signed by Milt D. Campbell, National Defense Division, addressed to E. l. Saunders,
acknowledge the receipt of the record shipment.
........The card from Mr.Campbell reads: "The shipment of records for "Records for Our
Fighting Men" is herewith acknowledged. Those records have been sold and the resultant
proceeds are being used to buy new records that are being sent to the men of the Army, Navy,
Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
.........We can assure you that the new records are appreciated and will bring many hours of
enjoyment to the fighting men who are doing so much for all of us.
.........It is hoped that you will continue to collect old records and ship them into the same
point to which you shipped those records we now acknowledge. There is a continuing need for
new records for our fighting men.
.........Again, we express thanks for your contribution."
