On January 14th, 1937 The Boston Excelsor Company deeded over the land and building to the American Legion. The original building has amazing woodwork, two mantel fireplaces and a full basement. A single story addition was added in late 1950"s to include a kitchen, seating for 175 people and a separate heating system. The addition was used for community functions, Bingo fund raising and hall rental. The original main room was used by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 41, plus Saturday night dancing in the 1960's. The basement level has a professional pool table a bar and lounge area with cable TV. The land was used for carnivals in the 1950's and eventually a fenced basketball court with lighting was placed in the center of the land on Riverside Street. Lighting was provided by the Town Of Milo, plus Horseshoe pits were on the land until 2003 which was also lighted. On Memorial day the American Legion organizes a parade that starts at the Legion parking lot and ends at the Evergreen Cemetery. After the service the American Legion Auxiliary provide a lunching for the parade participants.
