During the Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet and Soiree’ conducted at the Grand Marais ballroom in Jennings on January 26, 2017, the Fred B. and Ruth B. Zigler Legacy Award was presented to James O. Hall Post 19 of the American Legion, Department of Louisiana. Accepting the award on the Post’s behalf were the following Post members, shown in the photo in order from left to right: Terry Duhon, Post Commander Matthew Duhon, Darrell Landry, Allen Medus, Glenn McFarlain and John Louviere. The Zigler Award was presented to the Post for its contributions to the betterment of Jefferson Davis Parish. Starting in 1952, Post 19 has worked hard to meet the medical needs of the community through the Jennings American Legion Hospital. The Post Honor Guard has, since 2004, conducted over 560 military protocols at funerals of veterans whose services have taken place in Jefferson Davis Parish. Over the last 5 years Post 19 has nominated Jennings’ Police Officer of the Year and Firefighter of the Year, and the Chamber’s Parish Citizen of the Year, for American Legion 7th District and Department of Louisiana level awards in the nominees’ respective categories.
Post 19 was nominated for the Zigler Award by Jennings American Legion Hospital Board of Directors Vice Chairman Richard Arceneaux.
