On June 14, 2016 at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, members of the Honor guard from James O. Hall Post 19 in Jennings, assisted by Boy Scout Troop 59 from Hathaway, conducted a Flag Retirement Ceremony. During the event, ceremony participants examined the worn flags, offered prayers, and sounded the bugle call “To The Colors” prior to properly disposing of the flags in a dignified and respectful manner by burning. Post 19 has conducted a Flag Retirement Ceremony for several years, always inviting Boy Scout and Girl Scout units to join them in the ceremony.
