On June 7, 2014 Police Communications Officer Peaches Guidry of the Jennings Police Department received the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year from the American Legion Department of Louisiana. As a communications officer, she has the ultimate task of taking calls from citizens who are going through some of the most difficult times in their lives. Her Police Chief, Todd D'Albor, said of her, “Guidry is the calming voice on the other end of that phone call that is there to help these victims get through the event.” Guidry also sends necessary services to the aid of callers.

Over the years Guidry has organized the Burt LeBlanc Day Camp where she invited area youth to the Interstate-10 Park for fun and festivities which included fun jumps, games and food. She started the Safety Pup Program where she went into our local schools and gave talks about everyday dangers that schoolchildren could possibly face.

Guidry is also involved in the Jennings Police Association’s fundraiser to raise funds for families that have children with disabilities to defray some of the costs associated with medical or travel expenses. She is also a member of the Jennings Police Department’s Honor Guard, and participates in ceremonies in the city of Jennings.
