Since 2014, our Post Commander has nominated our Post Publicity Chairman for consideration of an award at the Department-level. The category is for Outstanding Post Publicity Chairman in the state of Louisiana. John W. Louviere, Jr. won the 2nd place award in this category on June 7, 2014. Over the years, the Post has fared well in this area:

2016 - Glenn McFarlain (1st Place) Note: From 2016, only a 1st place award was presented.

In the photo above, taken on June 6, 2015, American Legion Department of Louisiana Commander Billy Ray Foley (center) presented the following Department Media Awards to Post 19 members John W. Louviere, Jr. (left) and Glenn McFarlain (right). Louviere took second place in the Post Publicity Chairman Award category. Post 19 also took second place in the Scrapbook Category for Posts with less than 300 members. The Jennings Daily News, which was nominated for the Department Newspaper Award by Post 19, took second place in that category. In addition, John W. Louviere, Jr. earned the 2015 Department-level M. C. "Mike" Gehr Blue Cap Award as the outstanding Legionnaire in the state of Louisiana among Legionnaires who have never held elective office above post level.
