Post 19 and Jennings American Legion Hospital Fund Scholarships

On February 5, 2013, Post 19 began funding a scholarship each year to a Certified Nursing Assistant student at the Morgan Smith Campus of SOWELA in Jennings. In exchange for the post funding the scholarship, the recipient agrees to be employed by either the Jennings American Legion Hospital or the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home for a period of one year. Over the years the Jennings American Legion Hospital, with the full support of the Post, has funded scholarships for its employees so that these workers could complete Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs in Nursing. In exchange for the financial support, the employees agreed to work for the hospital for given periods of time.
